Changing Perspective on Exercise

Hey! Welcome back to this blog thing I keep doing. It’s a little odd, but I thoroughly enjoy writing these things. Just wanted to say thanks for checking it out :)

Anywho! So let’s talk about how we view exercise, because I can literally feel the groans behind the phone/computer screens the moment I bring up working out. The idea itself is truly a road block for most people. It often reminds you of pain, torture, that one shitty high school/grade school coach who borderline got their rocks off watching you run till near death, etc. You get the idea.

It all sucked back in the day, but looking at it now, you begin to understand how important it was. For those with a sports background, those long and hard training sessions were to get you prepared to work at your highest level against competition. Now there might not be the same amount of physical competition that you are running into, but I still think it is consistent with the point of exercise. It is to get the mind and body in the most powerful and available position to perform.

Which I think it is clearly proven to do. Now, can I list perfectly why exercise helps you perform at the best of your ability? Of course not, I am not a doctor - so I would hate to just throw out bullshit to you. So let me explain it simply in terms I understand and I think can be generalized. Exercising ensures your body is working at the peak of its ability. The more you exercise/take care of yourself in this way, the less you will contract diseases, get injured, develop cancer, etc etc. So overall, your body functions better. What is an apart of your body? Your brain, duh. So since exercise helps the body function better, it consequentially helps the mind work better. Allowing you to think more clearly, monitor your emotions, and stabilize your mental health. Overall, it’s a win-win for you to perform at the highest of your ability.

Another thing about exercise that I think is beautiful is the fact that it literally a celebration of what your body can achieve. For example, recently I signed up for half marathon and was able to complete it in under 2 hours. First of all, I never believed I could run more than a mile in my life.
